💭 What If Your Best Career Move Is Still Ahead of You?

Hi all, hope you're well!

You know, I once touched base with a chap called James...and when he first heard about international financial advisory work, he dismissed it immediately.

He had clients, stability, and a career built on a decade of effort. He told himself, “I don’t need to start over.”

But deep down, he knew something was missing.

Each year felt like a repeat of the one before — the same meetings, the same compliance battles, the same shrinking freedom that had quietly crept into the business he once loved, plus the weather at home was just, well...MISERABLE.

Yet, I wouldn't say he was unhappy -- more just uninspired.

And if you’ve ever been there, you’ll understand what happened next.

I get this from time to time, and the story is often shared with me: In between client calls, James received one of my emails, you know, ones like the one you're reading right now.

He almost deleted it. But the subject line stopped him cold:

“The difference between two financial advisors.”

It wasn’t another job ad. It was a challenge.

By the time he finished reading, he felt that spark — the one he hadn’t felt in years.
He replied, he decided to have that one conversation...then another.
Within months, he found himself boarding a flight to Dubai.

That was a while ago…

Today, James lives a life that looks nothing like the one he left behind.

His clients include entrepreneurs, expatriates, and global families — people with investments on multiple continents who value his expertise and his time.

His income has multiplied, he’s paid off his mortgage back home and bought an apartment a great view in Dubai.
Most importantly, he rediscovered why he became a financial advisor in the first place.

He’s not chasing sales targets anymore — he’s building lives, futures, and a business he’s proud of.

And whenever someone asks what made the difference, he smiles and says: “I guess I stopped waiting for the perfect time. I just said yes.”

Every so often, I hear stories like James’s, advisors who finally decided to act — not because they were unhappy, but because they knew they were capable of more.

The truth is, international financial advice isn’t for everyone. It demands professionalism, adaptability, and yes, hard work and some courage!
But for those who have it — it’s the most rewarding chapter of their career.

You could be one conversation away from your own story.

If you’ve ever felt that your potential and your environment are out of sync, maybe this letter is your turning point.

🧠 Weekend Thought

The older I get, the more convinced I become that success in this industry has very little to do with products, markets, qualifications, or even talent.

Those things matter, but they are not what ultimately separates the truly successful adviser from the rest.

The real difference is trust.

Trust takes years to build, minutes to damage, and sometimes a lifetime to restore.

Clients rarely remember every recommendation you made, every fund you selected, or every market insight you shared. What they remember is whether they trusted you when it mattered most.

In a world increasingly driven by automation, algorithms and AI, trust remains one of the few competitive advantages that cannot be replicated.

Build it carefully. Protect it relentlessly.

Everything else can be replaced...
